A group of fictional characters are forced to confront the reality imposed upon them by a filmmaker obsessed with creating the perfect film. As the boundaries between creator and creation begin to collapse, the characters challenge the director’s authority and expose his own insecurities, frustrations and pursuit of artistic perfection. The Calling is a metafictional short exploring creative control, artistic pressure and the uneasy relationship between a filmmaker and the work he brings to life.
